Membership Team
Meet the Fall 2024 Membership Team, those who mentor and empower our pledges to grow professionally, socially, and as a unified pledge class, creating a foundation for lifelong success and enduring friendships. Join us on this transformative journey towards personal and professional development!
-
What is recruitment?Recruitment is a series of events over two consecutive weeks to allow potential pledges the opportunity to learn more about Alpha Kappa Psi while in turn allowing the members of Alpha Mu to learn more about interested candidates.
-
Are there requirements for recruitment?Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for a bid. In addition, each candidate must attend the minimum number of recruitment events; two open recruitment, a first round interview, one closed recruitment (invitation only), and a second round interview. Lastly, we ask all candidates to submit an application by September 13th at 11:59PM so we may holistically consider them. This application can be found on our website above, on QR codes we will display each night of rush, and in the Rush Toolkit which is linked in the site.
-
What will the pledgeship look like?We are eagerly anticipating the selection of our Fall 2024 pledge class, and we are dedicated to providing them with a rewarding pledgeship experience. The entire chapter, especially our membership team, has designed an exciting semester filled with opportunities for pledges to grow professionally, make a positive impact in the community, and deeply engage with our brotherhood. We are committed to making this a memorable and fulfilling journey for all our new members.
-
Do I need to attend all recruitment events?Attending all recruitment events is not mandatory. To be considered for an invitation to closed recruitment, candidates are only required to attend two open recruitment events and participate in a first-round interview. If invited for closed recruitment, it is expected that candidates attend at least one event and a final-round interview. However, while it is not obligatory to attend every event, we highly encourage candidates to do so, as it provides an excellent opportunity for members to get to know you better.
-
If I don't get a bid from Alpha Kappa Psi the first time, can I try again?Certainly! Reapplying is encouraged if you did not receive a bid the first time. Many of our current members faced a similar situation before joining. We value candidates who demonstrate determination and personal growth. Your previous experience does not diminish your potential as a member. If you are motivated to be a part of our brotherhood, we encourage you to apply again and showcase your commitment and passion.
-
Can I join Alpha Kappa Psi if I am also in a social fraternity or sorority?Yes. A number of our members are involved in Greek organizations on campus. However, it is important to keep in mind that Alpha Kappa Psi is a significant time commitment, especially during pledgeship. We encourage you to use the recruitment process as an opportunity to ask members about their experiences balancing other student organizations.
-
Is Alpha Kappa Psi only for male prospects? No, all genders are welcome and encouraged to rush Alpha Kappa Psi. Despite its title as a fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi has been a co-ed business organization since 1973.
-
Is Alpha Kappa Psi only for business-oriented majors? Not at all! Our chapter includes students majoring in business, engineering, communication arts, political science, computer science, non-profit leadership and more.
-
Is there a specific type of dress required for me to wear to each recruitment event?Open and closed recruitment events have a casual dress code, allowing you to dress comfortably in student casual attire similar to what you would wear for class. However, for both first and second round interviews, a business professional dress code is mandatory. We recognize that not all students may have access to business professional attire. If this applies to you, please feel free to reach out to Membership team during any rush event to discuss alternative options.
-
Where can I direct further questions? We understand that rush can be a stressful and convoluted process and you may still have many questions. That’s why we have created a Rush Toolkit in hopes of easing your anxieties and streamlining the rush process.
